  1. Rear Admiral Michael Gregory Oamen NN/1774 was born on 1st
    October 1969 in Zaria, Kaduna State. He hails from Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State. R Adm Oamen attended Aminu Kano Primary School, Zaria from 1974 to 1979. He proceeded to Ibore Community Primary School, Irrua from 1979 – 1980 where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He was subsequently admitted to Eghosa Grammar School, Benin City, Edo State from 1980 – 1985 where he obtained his West African School Certificate.
  2. R Adm Oamen started his military career on 10 September 1988 when he was enlisted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of 40 Regular Course. Consequently, he was commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant into the Nigerian Navy on 10 Sep 1993. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Chemistry, Masters of Science Degree in Strategic Studies (MSS) as well as a Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy (MIADS) from ABU Zaria.
  3. R Adm Oamen has held various appointments ashore and afloat in the Nigerian Navy. Some of these appointments include; Flag Lieutenant to the Chief of Personnel at Naval Headquarters, Ship Communication Officer Nigerian Navy Ship LANA, Naval Assistant to the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Base Intelligence Officer Nigerian Navy Ship VICTORY and GSO1 (N) to the Honourable Minister of Defence. The senior officer also served as Executive Officer Nigerian Navy Ship EKPE, Directing Staff at the Prestigious Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji. Additionally, he served as Asst Director of Intelligence, Defence Intelligence Agency, Commanding Officer Naval Outpost Onitsha, Assistant Director of Manning at Naval Headquarters, Commander Directorate of Naval Intelligence, Lagos Annex and Directing Staff at the Prestigious Naval War College Nigeria. Other appointments held by the senior officer includes; College Secretary Naval War College Nigeria, Commandant Defence Intelligence College, Chief Staff Officer Eastern Naval Command, Director of Veteran Affairs and presently the Chief of Naval Transformation at the Naval Headquarters, Abuja.
  4. R Adm Oamen underwent various professional courses in the course of his illustrious career in the Nigerian Navy. Some of which includes; Midshipman Training Course, Junior and Senior Staff Courses at Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Sub Technical Course, Officers Long Course and Young Officers Course (Intelligence) at Nigeria Navy Intelligence School, Apapa. He attended the Defence Intelligence Officers Course at the Defence Intelligence College Abuja and the National Defence College Nigeria. R Adm Oamen participated in the Counter Insurgency Course in Islamabad Pakistan, Systems Thinking in Practice at the United Kingdom Military Academy, Legal Aspect of Combating Terrorism at the United States Naval War College, Weapon of Mass Destruction at Semial Turkey and Combined Joint Warfighting Course at the United States Joint Forces Staff College, Virginia.
  5. R Adm Oamen is a member of several professional bodies notable among which are National Institute of Management and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He has a number of awards and decorations which includes Forces Service Star, Meritorious Service Star, Distinguished Service Star as well as Passed Staff Course Dagger and distinguished Fellow of the Naval War College among others. He is happily married to Mrs Josephine Oamen and the marriage is blessed with 3 children. R Adm Oamen enjoys travelling, meeting people, playing lawn tennis and watching documentaries/movies.
